  • Opening of the new “Carles Rahola” public library in Girona (Spain).

    The new public library in the city of Girona opened last December 23th. AudingIntraesa has performed the Project Management, including Detail Project, Construction Management, Quality Control Management, as well as Safety and Health Coordination.

    With a surface of 7.121 m2, the new public library in the city of Girona, named Carles Rahola, has been built by Culture Ministry (Spanish Government) and will be managed by the Culture Department of Generalitat de Catalunya. The library opened doors last December 23th of 2014, and the formal inauguration act will take place on Tuesday January 13th of 2015.

    This building will be the biggest public library in the northeast zone of the country, has required a global investment Budget of 15,5 millions of euros, and has taken a planning and construction period of nine years.

    AudingIntraesa has participated actively since 2009 in this singular work as technical assistance in the performance of the Detail Project of the Building (measurements and Budget areas, Safety and Health Study, and Quality Control Study) as well as in the posterior construction phase performing the Construction Management, Quality Control Management, and Safety and Health Coordination.

    The scope of the works involved also the urbanization of the surrounding areas of the building. In this case, AudingIntraesa has also participated as technical assistance in the performance of the Detail Project in the same areas as for the main building, including utilities calculation and design, as well as technical assistance to the Construction Manager, Quality Control Management, and Safety and Health Coordination.

    The library building has been presented to be nominated for the Mies van der Rohe de 2015 award.

  • Agreement between FCG and AUDINGINTRAESA for development of railway projects.

    The company Ferrocarriles de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FCG) and AUDINGINTRAESA have signed an agreement to work together on railway projects, both in Spain and abroad.

    The president of FCG and AUDINGINTRAESA’s managing director signed a cooperation agreement this past October 30th. Both companies will work together in the development of railway projects, including construction management and provision of technical assistance (at metropolitan, regional and national level).

    This deal shall contribute to further establish both companies in Spain and around the world, especially in countries where there is an increase in the number of railway projects, such as Mexico, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Qatar, the Dominican Republic and Saudi Arabia.

    AUDINGINTRAESA brings its renowned experience in railway planning, design and construction management, while FCG contributes to tasks such as train, railway and maintenance operations.

  • AudingIntraesa chosen for the development of the projects of the power supply system for the"L17 - Ouro" of the São Paulo subway.

    Recently the branch of AudingIntraesa in São Paulo (Brazil), “Auditorias y Ingenierias SAU do Brasil” signed a contract to perform the detailed engineering for the development of the construction projects of the power supply system for the "L17 - Ouro" of the São Paulo subway.

    The projects to be undertaken include the Bandeirantes primary substation (138/88 kV / 22 kV), the 22 kV distribution system including all substations for the Jardim Aeroporto – Morumbi (CPTM) extension (including the branch to Congonhas Airport), the "Pátio Água Espraiada" (depot) and the 22 kV feed system for the traction power supply system, including substations and the distribution via the "3rd and 4th trilho (rail)" and disconnectors.

    The "L17 – Ouro" of the São Paulo Metro is a monorail system ("Monotrilho") that will link the neighborhoods of Morumbi, Jabaquara and the Congonhas airport. Specifically, in the first phase in which AudingIntraesa is involved with the design of the detailed systems, are included 8 stations (Morumbi-CPTM, Chucri Zaidan, Vila Cordeiro, Campo Belo, Vereador José Diniz, Brooklin Paulista, Congonhas and Jardim Aeroporto), the Bandeirantes Primary Substation and also the “Agua Espraiada” depot.

    The implementation of this system will provide new economic investment, social development and improved public transport alternative for the region, which will link areas of high population density with important centers where a large number of jobs are concentrated.

    The Monorail is a mass transit system consisting of trains running on an elevated track through tires. The trains will move via electric power in a driverless system that will reach top speeds of 80 km/h with a headway of 90 seconds.

    The Monorail system already operate in several countries including Germany, Australia, China, UAE, USA, UK, Japan, Malaysia, Russia and Singapore.

  • Rehabilitation and deck extension works at "Pont de La Gleva " over Ter river in Les Masies of Voltregà , Barcelona (Spain).

    The works have lasted for eight months and have consisted in the rehabilitation and deck extension of an original 1898 bridge, with a total length of 140 m.

    AudingIntraesa has executed the Project Management for this emergency work, performing the preliminary studies, detail projects, and the construction management for the rehabilitation and deck expansion of “Puente de La Gleva” over the Ter River. From the start of survey studies until completion of the works have passed only 10 months.

    Reconstruction has been complicated, due to need of reinforcement of old structural elements to maintain, the fact that it is a bridge over the Ter, and because it was very important to restore traffic conditions as quickly as possible.

    The process started the January 11th, 2014, when the impact of a vehicle against containment revealed the poor safety conditions of the existing deck.

    From that moment, a geotechnical survey was conducted to know the state in which the structure was and their possibilities for repair, always in coordination with the municipalities involved. AudingIntraesa experts performed all preliminary studies, concluding that the repair of the bridge had to go through the replacement of the beam supporting the roadway of the bridge, dated from 1945. The original piers and abutments, dated 1898, needed structural reinforcement.

    A new deck 11 meters wide was designed, partly “in situ” and partly with prefabricated beams. By replacing the deck, a dramatic improvement of safety and comfort conditions is achieved: for pedestrians using the bridge, since the bridge incorporates adequately protected sidewalks, and also for traffic, since the road is also wider.

  • The construction works of the Enhanced Parallel Avenue drainage system in Barcelona (first phase, section Ronda Sant Pau - Vilà i Vilà) will finish this December (Barcelona, Spain).

    AudingIntraesa has performed the Construction Management as engineering contractor for Barcelona d'Infrastructures Municipals S.A. (BIMSA).

    In this first phase a new collector along Parallel Avenue has been built, arising from the existing collector at the junction with Parlament Street. The new pipe is made of glass-fiber reinforced polyester (GRP), with 2.200 mm diameter, and is 438 meters long.

    The collector crosses Parallel Avenue at Bella Dorita Square through a reinforced concrete structure of nearly 5 square meters section and 72 meters long towards Vilà i Vilà Street, where future phases will be executed.

    This crossing at Parallel Avenue has required implementation of special structural and geotechnical techniques that have allowed to minimize possible impacts to the line 3 underground tunnel. Four spillways have also been built in the existing collector, at Poble Sec side, and 90 m of GRP pipes - diameters 800 and 1200 mm - have been installed for new connections.

    The construction works included also clearance increasing in 43 meters of an existing collector, extending a groundwater reservoir located in the Plaza Bella Dorita, and improvement of surface drainage of Ronda Sant Pau new scuppers and transverse grids.

    The works were executed in phases, in order to maintain acceptable traffic conditions, performing multiple alternative bypasses along the nearest streets. The existing utilities and services conditions were highly complex and involved the protection of power lines, numerous electrical bypasses for both medium and low voltage, and replacement of prisms of different telecom operators.

    The final budget of the works amounted to EUR 4.8 million (VAT included) and has lasted for eleven months.

  • Award of construction management contract for the development of tourist rail from Puebla to Cholula

    The Government of Puebla has awarded AUDINGMEX (AUDINGINTRAESA’s subsidiary) with a contract for the “Management of the project regarding the further development of the light rail system from Museo del Ferrocarril to Cholula, in Puebla”.

    This 17,5 km-long tourist train will run from Museo del Ferrocarril, in Puebla, to Cholula’s Archaeological Site, in San Pedro Cholula, where the world’s largest pyramid is located. This will be Mexico’s first light rail system.

    This infrastructure will transport approximately 300 people per train, in each direction, six times a day. The line will feature 2 stops and will be served by two diesel trains travelling at a speed of about 35 km/h.

    The contract also included Construction Management services for civil works and electromechanical equipment, as well as the start-up of tram-train for passengers. Works will be completed in 18 months.

    This contract, together with the one for the supervision of the train connecting Mexico City to Toluca, places AUDINGINTRAESA as one of Mexico’s leading railway companies.

  • Award of Supervision and Commissioning Services for the Construction of the Interurban Train connecting Mexico City to Toluca

  • AudingIntraesa currently developing detailed engineering projects on energy supply systems for São Paulo Metro Lines “L15 – Prata” and “L17 – Ouro” (Brazil).

    In October of 2014, Auditorias e Ingenierias S.A.U. do Brasil (AudingIntraesa’s branch in Brazil), signed a contract to develop a detailed engineering project for the energy supply system of São Paulo Metro Line 17. The company was awarded with a similar contract for Line 15 in April of the following year.

    AudingIntraesa is currently developing detailed engineering projects for São Paulo Metro Lines 15 (Prata) and 17 (Ouro), improving this city’s public transport system.

    Both projects include the design of primary substations and energy distribution systems (including a 22 kV one supplying the traction system), as well as the provision of direct current through a third and fourth rail and disconnectors in several rail sections.

    This driverless Monorail system has its trains running on an elevated track reaching speeds of 80 km/h.

    The project for Line 17 and the 1st stage of Line 15 are scheduled for completion in 2016.

  • AudingIntraesa’s construction management team fully engaged in the construction of the road tunnels in Plaza de las Glorias in Barcelona.

    The scope of the project, awarded in consortium with TYPSA, TEC4 and EUROGEOTÉCNICA, includes the supervision of the 1st stage of construction of the road tunnels and the Castillejos – Badajoz Tunnel (508 m-long and at a max. depth of 25 m.)

    AudingIntraesa’s technical team is fully engaged in the work currently under way at Plaza de las Glorias.

    Its refurbishment will be one of the most important urban development projects in Barcelona, improving the city’s mobility and converting it into public landscape.

    The tunnels will direct the traffic under the Plaza which is one of the city’s main entry/exit points, as part of a set of actions that began in February with the demolition of an existing concrete roundabout.

  • AudingIntraesa closes office in Tarragona

    On November 1st 2014, AudingIntraesa closed its office in Tarragona, transferring all current projects into its headquarters in Barcelona.

    This measure centers the company´s workers in Catalonia into Barcelona’s headquarters, as a way of adjusting to current demands and reducing expenses.

    The office in Madrid, as well as those located in construction sites, will continue to operate as normal, including the ones in Mexico, Colombia, Brazil, the Dominican Republic and in the United Arab Emirates.

    The projects that were being developed in Tarragona will now be managed by the office in Barcelona, maintaining good relationships with its clients, as in all the years past.

  • Work completed in new underground parking in Tortosa, Province of Tarragona (Spain)

    Almost 8,400 m2 were transformed over the course of 51 months into approximately 200 parking spaces.

    AudingIntraesa carried out the Construction Management of a new underground parking in Tortosa, including on-site supervision, economic monitoring and quality control.

    This work is part of a contract awarded to the public company Infraestructures.cat and to the parking’s construction and operating company, which also included the Construction Management of the Catalan Government’s Territorial Delegations Headquarters.

    Geological and hydrological constraints, added to the fact that the construction site was located in Tortosa’s historical center, further complicated the work. State-of-the-art construction methods and topographic surveys were employed, thus keeping impacts to a minimum.

  • Inauguration of the new emergency department at Barcelona’s Bellvitge Hospital, ranked among Spain’s best.

    On October25th, the new emergency department at Barcelona’s Bellvitge Hospital (Spain) was inaugurated, which will start receiving patients on November1st. AudingIntraesa took an active part in the Construction Management of this building over a 6 year period.

    Over the last 6 years, AudingIntraesa carried out the Construction Management of the “Extension of the Prínceps de Espanya Hospital at Bellvitge’s University Hospital” (2nd phase), as well as the “Facilities and fixed equipment design at Bellvitge Hospital in Hospitalet de Llobregat”.

    The 2nd phase (from April 2008 to October 2014) was carried out shortly after structural completion in 2007, and included: architecture, finishes, facilities, urban development and landscaping of access routes; construction of a bridge to the outpatient care area; construction of a link with the existing hospital; construction and start-up of facilities and assembly of fixed equipment.

    The new building has a total area of 41,765 m2, including the connection to the outpatient care area through an elevated bridge, and the connection with the existing hospital (Anatomy Pathology Services) through a two-tier bridge (module E).

    The six-floor building has the following distribution:

    • Basement, occupying a part of the building, for sterilization.

    • Ground floor providing access to the building. The access gives way to the Emergency Services through an external hall which controls the access of both patients and their companions. Module B1 houses medical specialties, whereas module C1 houses radiology services.

    • 1st floor. Day care, surgical hospital and examination rooms.

    • 2nd floor. Critical care area, with 80 rooms. Administration and meeting rooms, as well as offices, changing rooms and break rooms.

    • 3rd floor. 31 surgery rooms, 7 of them high-tech.

    • 4th floor. Equipment rooms. • Roof. New helipad.

  • AudingIntraesa continue with the services for services for technical and administrative support for the execution of Investment Plan for ENAGÁS.

    At last December, AUDINGINTRAESA signed the contract with ENAGÁS for providing Technical and Administrative Support Services for Maintenance Department from Barcelona Regasification Plant (Spain).

    The work consists to provide technical and administrative support in areas of mechanical, electrical and instrumentation maintenance, as it has been done for more than two years.

    In 2012, AudingIntraesa started the collaboration with the regasification plant in Barcelona, carrying out low investment projects and studies for maintenance and operation departments. It has been realized the project for the renovation of the compressed air system and the inventory and lighting study of the plant.

    This new contract, with a duration of 36 months, means the continuation of the job that AudingIntraesa is being done during last years on the plant.

  • Study Report on the extension of FGC’s Llobregat - Anoia line. Section: Plaza de España - Gracia

    Infraestructures.cat has commissioned AudingIntraesa with one of the most important works included in the program to develop and expand the subway system in the city of Barcelona, expanding its network to Eixample and connecting the boroughs of Sants-Montjuic, Eixample, Sarria-Sant Gervasi and Gracia.

    The Study Report defined several route alignment alternatives and stations located in a corridor running through the center of Barcelona, from Plaza de España to the new station of Gracia, linking the light rail, subway (Line 5) and train networks.

    The 4 km-long underground section includes 3 new stations and a rail siding for train maneuvering. The 6,7 m-diameter tunnel runs at an average depth of 35m.

    The tunnel was excavated by a tunnel boring machine, whereas stations and other dedicated areas were built by using retaining walls, thus minimizing construction impacts at surface level.

  • Arrival of the first test train on the sector Aeropuerto-Zona Universitaria of the line L9 of Barcelona’s underground.

    Last October 7th the first cabin test train’s arrived for the sector Aeropuerto-Zona Universitaria of the Line L9 of Barcelona’s underground belonged to the sector IV of the same line.

    With this the period of the test circulating begins which include the assembly of two trains by Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB) and the development of rail infrastructure to transport test trains to the airport where AudingIntraesa have a fundamental role.

    AudingIntraesa has been and is still one of the leading companies in the sector that has been active in all areas of engineering and facilities in the 50 km line of most of the stations of Barcelona’s underground Line 9. With the preparatory period, the intervention of AudingIntraesa remains very active and as a proof of it, here is the important contracts which is working on:

    • Project management for the Energy and Communications (Joint Venture. Some tests are being done for the Substations Traction and Transformer; they are required for the circulating test trains. Also, there will be cover for the infrastructure communication systems while test trains are moved.
    • Project Management for the Railway and Catenary of the Sector I. The track infrastructure and basic catenary for the movement of the trains will be completed on schedule for the transfer of the train to the airport.
    • Project Management for the Stations of the Sector I (joint venture). There are finishing the works for conditioning the stations’ systems in order to provide stable voltage to the signalling rail systems and communications.
    • Technical Assistance for the Integration Systems of the L9 (joint venture). It will be responsible for managing the movement of train’s tests, management of the transfer activity of the line during the running tests including managing the requests waiting works and management security dossier of the line.

    Moving trains tests will take place during November and immediately the running tests will start through December 2015.

  • Participation in the congress «High-speed rail and the city: urban dynamics and tourism».

    Juan Luis de la Campa Cascales, belonging to our offices in Madrid has copresented the paper «HSR and Tourism implications: first empirical evidences from the Spanish experience» at the congress «High-speed rail and the city: urban dynamics and tourism» in Paris.

    Juan Luis de la Campa Cascales, Civil Engineer and phD candidate on Civil Engineering Systems, belonging to our offices in Madrid has participated in the congress «High-speed rail and the city: urban dynamics and tourism» which has taken place in Paris from 21 to 23 January 2015, where he has copresented the paper «HSR and Tourism implications: first empirical evidences from the Spanish experience».

    The paper states that the extremely elevated costs of new High-Speed Rail (HSR) lines construction has reopened the debate among the scientific community specializing in HSR. Support for the new projects needs empirical evidence that sorne economic activities are reinforced by the implementation of new HSR lines and tourism is one of these relevant economic activities in many countries.

    Apart from the economic geography and destination choice models, the existing tourism demand literature is dominated by econometric models with single-equation time-series based approach. But, with the new HSR lines, there has so far been little research exploring a methodology to rank HSR corridors taking into account the tourism variable. In 2014, a ranking methodology, developed by Todorovich and Hagler, was validated using the current Spanish HSR network. Twelve variables were used to create an index to assign scores to the city pairs, but tourism was not included as variable. The findings showed the consistency of the model to ranking pairs mainly for the top first O-D relations; however this tool failed to discriminate clearly between secondary groups of corridors.

    In this context, the aim of the paper is to assess empirically the positive effect of HSR on tourism, improving the above mentioned ranking tool with a tourism database. The new methodology is tested by its application to 1,176 city pairs in Spain and results shows clearly that the implementation of a tourism variable helps to discriminate between secondary groups of corridors, obtaining a better approach of the tourism implications on HSR demand.

  • AudingIntraesa participates in emergency road’s works.

    In Novembrer and December 2014, AudingIntraesa has carried out the Technical Assistance Construction Management of emergency actions to repair the roundabout to access to Santa Coloma de Cervelló (Barcelona, Spain) in the BV- 2002 road.

    In Under the roundabout of access to Santa Coloma de Cervelló, a town in the Barcelona area, circulates an irrigation channel. In October 2014, after several heavy rain events, the old pipe suffered breaks at different points, causing the appearance of torches in the driveway of the roundabout, which grew in a short space of time, generating a danger to the road safety.

     

    In order to remedy this situation, the Barcelona Provintial Council, manager of the road, ordered the emergency work, awarding to AudingIntraesa the Technical Assistance performances.

    The operations carried out consisted of:

    • Demolition of the metal tube and the roundabout in the affected area.
    • Excavation of existing terrain.
    • Execution of a concrete base.
    • Installation of a new canalization made by precast concrete modules.
    • Filling with layers of soil and “grave-cement”.
    • Waterproofing and sealing.
    • Returning of the pavement layers, drainage elements, signaling and safety barriers.
    • Execution of breakwater walls in the portals.

     

    These works have been developed with traffic all the time, in a road with a high traffic intensity, and in a very short period of time, what caused that the works were made at different stages and also at night-time. All that, has required a very careful and precise planning and monitoring of the works.

  • The Solar Thermal Water Treatment Plants in Mojave (EEUU) is already a reality

    The Solar Thermal Water Treatment Plants in Mojave (EEUU) is already a reality. The implementation of the detail project and the facilities’ construction works have been developed between AudingIntraesa and its partner LEF Ingenieros. It is already in the start-up phase.

    The project has involved the installation of two twins Treatment Plants Water with a unit capacity of 350 m3/h of raw well water, to serve two solar thermal plants of 140 MW power each.

    The scope of the action taken to the date has included the process design, the detailed engineering, and the purchase of equipment (mechanical, electrical and instrumentation), assembly completion in workshop and supervision of the installation work of the two water treatment plants’, both currently in the commissioning phase.

    The project has been developed in a protected environment of low rainfall which has required minimize the maximum discharges and recycle as much as possible all the water resources. In this sense, for the design of the facility it has considered the ZLD (Zero Liquid Discharge) type, using a physicochemical wastewater treatment process, along with a cross-flow ultrafiltration and a concentration reverse osmosis (85 % output).

  • Procurement of technical assistance and construction supervision for renovation project for the AID (Automatic Incident Detection) system, of Abertis Autopistas España SAU (AUCAT)

    Abertis Autopistas España SAU, firm within ABERTIS group, has commissioned AudingIntraesa to provide technical assistance and construction supervision for the implementation of the AID (Automatic Incident Detection) system, of the concession holder AUCAT, located in the province of Barcelona, in Spain.

    Facilities, covered by the present project, include eight tunnels: Rat Penat, La Ginesta, Penya del Boc, El Castellot, Penya del Llamp, Quint Mar, El Mirador, and La Granja; with a total length of almost 6,000 metres; as well as the eight technical departments associated with the tunnels, and the maintenance area of Vallcarca.

    Within the scope of the present project, AudingIntraesa will carry out technical assistance and construction supervision for renovation, relocation and extension activities. A total of 90 cameras, at present in operation, installed at each tunnel, will be replaced by the new cameras for video surveillance systems. Based on IP (Internet Protocol) standards, they integrate advanced video analytics features, thus eliminating the need for a central control, currently located at the maintenance area of Vallcarca, which has specific analysis equipment.

    The new cameras for video surveillance will be integrated into the AID (Automatic Incident Detection) system, already implemented in the operations centre of Abertis Autopistas España SAU, located in Granollers.

  • Energy performance audit for facilities of ATLLCGCSA firm

    ATLLCGCSA firm (Aguas Ter-Llobregat, concession holder of the Autonomous Government of Catalonia), within ACCIONA group, has commissioned an energy performance audit of some of its installations, which will be implemented by AudingIntraesa

    The present contract covers three treatment plants (one drinking water treatment plant, and two sea water desalination plants) and six pumping stations, whose technical features are the following ones:

    Treatment plants:

    • Drinking water treatment plant (DWTP) of Llobregat: a purification plant that abstracts water from the Llobregat river, providing 3.4 m3/s of water treatment capacity, and 263,000 m3 of water storage capacity. Energy performance audit also includes three office buildings within the DWTP boundaries.

    • Sea water desalination plant (SWDP) of Llobregat: a plant for water desalination through reverse osmosis that abstracts water from the Mediterranean sea, providing 2.0 m3/s of production capacity, and with an annual maximum production capacity of 60 Hm3. Energy performance audit also includes office buildings within the SWDP boundaries.

    • Sea water desalination plant (SWDP) of La Tordera: a plant for water desalination through reverse osmosis that abstracts water from the Mediterranean sea, providing 0.6 m3/s of production capacity, and with an annual maximum production capacity of 20 Hm3.

    Pumping stations:

    • Pumping station of Maresme Nord: it consists of three motor pump units, each one providing an engine power of 1,000 kilowatts.

    • Pumping station of Cardedeu-Llinars: it consists of three motor pump units, each one providing an engine power of 132 kilowatts.

    • Pumping station of Cànovas-Camalús: it consists of two motor pump units, each one providing an engine power of 37 kilowatts.

    • Pumping station of Sant Antoni de Vilamajor: it consists of two motor pump units, each one providing an engine power of 30 kilowatts.

    • Supply system of La Roca – Can Massaguer: it consists of two pumping stations; the pumping station of La Roca with two motor pump units, each one providing an engine power of 75 kilowatts; and the pumping station of Can Massaguer with two motor pump, each one providing an engine power of 55 kilowatts.

    • Pumping station of Sant Quirze Riera de Caldes: it consists of two motor pump units, each one providing an engine power of 1,000 kilowatts.

  • Procurement of technical assistance and construction supervision for renovation project for the operations centre of San Rafael, of Abertis Autopistas España SAU (IBERPISTAS)

    AudingIntraesa will carry out the technical assistance and construction supervision for facilities and systems of the operations centre, which include: control room for the communications coordinator, crisis room, and office for the head of the operations centre. Operation and maintenance services for the AP-6 motorway, Villalba-Adanero route, will be managed from the operations centre.

    Within the scope of the present project, AudingIntraesa will also provide comprehensive management, conservation, and maintenance services for the AP-51 motorway, Villacastín-Ávila route, (motorway link between AP-6 motorway and Ávila); and the AP-61 motorway, San Rafael - Segovia route, (motorway link between AP-6 motorway and Segovia).

    To sum up, AudingIntraesa will supervise the following main actions:

    - Minor preparatory works, such as: window openings, remove and relocate existing doors, and fitting-out of offices.

    - Renovation of floor, roof and wall cladding.

    - Adaptation of facilities to current standards, in relation to lighting, air-conditioning, heating, power and communication systems.

    - Renovation of interior glass wall system in the crisis room.

    - Renovation of video wall.

    - Renovation of building envelope.

    - Migration to IP (Internet Protocol) video surveillance system.

    - Provisional relocation, during works executions, and permanent relocation after completion of the work.

    Throughout the present project, technical advice will be provided, both to works implemented by Abertis Autopistas España SAU, and by the building contractor.

  • President Artur Mas visits L9 Barcelona subway line

    Last Wednesday, 4 June 2014, Artur Mas, President of the Autonomous Government of Catalonia (Generalitat de Catalunya), has visited the construction site of the L9 Barcelona subway line. Since the design stage, AudingIntraesa has actively participated in the development of this major infrastructure project. In the last few years, AudingIntraesa, together with other companies, takes part in the construction supervision.

    The participation of AudingIntraesa in the development project of L9 Barcelona subway line dates back to 2000, during the design stage. In the last few years, AudingIntraesa, together with other companies, takes part in the construction supervision, which includes monitoring of the adequate implementation of layout of railway tracks and overhead contact lines, as well as stations, tunnels, power supply, communication systems, ventilation systems, railway signalling system, and driverless trains.

  • AudingIntraesa has won the bidding for the development of a desalination plant for the company VALORIZA Agua

    VALORIZA Agua, company within SACYR group, has awarded to AudingIntraesa the implementation of design and basic engineering studies for a seawater desalination plant in Qurayyat (Sultanate of Oman).

    Planned works include several technical areas like civil engineering, urban development, technical architecture, electricity supply, remote control systems, ventilation and air-conditioning systems, fire protection systems, and fire extinguishers systems.

    The seawater treatment plant has a capacity of 44 million imperial gallon per day (MIGD), equivalent to a daily capacity of 200,000 m3; and produces drinking water through a reverse osmosis process with pre- and post- conventional treatment.

    The present project represents the first collaboration agreement between AudingIntraesa and the company VALORIZA Agua.

    The public undertaking INFRAESTRUCTURES.CAT has awarded to AudingIntraesa the technical assistance to the drafting of a consultative report relating to the construction of the alternative route of Les Preses, C-37 road (Girona).

    The consultative report focuses on the description and assessment of different line options for this alternative route, and specifies the most suitable solution according to environmental, budgetary, territorial, and functional constraints.

    The route is part of the C-37 new road between Vic and Olot, and represents a follow-up section of the existing road between Vic and Sant Esteve d'en Bas, into operation since 2009. The line options proposed involve a section of motorway and will joint the future alternative route of Olot.

    The present project ensures the continuity of the works conducted by AudingIntraesa in the axis of circulation Vic - Olot (C-37 road) since 1994. In addition, this project extends the already significant experience of AudingIntraesa into the transport infrastructures scope.

  • AudingIntraesa has developed the construction project of the new bridge on Les Aigües road (Barcelona, Spain)

    Last Saturday, 3 may, an article has been published in the Spanish newspaper La Vanguardia relating to the future construction of the new bridge, designed by AudingIntraesa, over the road Torrent de la Font del Bacallà, connecting the road of La Rabassada with the road of Les Aigües, in the surrounding area of Barcelona.

    The bridge designed by AudingIntraesa stands out for its uniqueness and social value. The bridge will attach great value to the existing walk, currently blocked on that section, enabling the continuation of the route, considered one of the most important play and sport areas in the metropolitan district of Barcelona. On the basis of published data, every year over 750,000 users pass along the path, and daily about 2,054 people, on foot or by bicycle, make use of the walk.

    The present project is part of an ambitious plan to improve and transform the whole walk, currently made in several instalments, and once finished it will cover a round trip 42 km long.

    The construction project drafted by AudingIntraesa for the local municipality of Barcelona, which represents an investment of EUR 1,9 million, has involved the design, from a construction point of view, of a mixed engineering structure with five spans, achieving a maximum span of 24 metres, and about 142 metres long. According to schedule, the platform shall have 4.60 metres wide, which allows a net width of 4.30 metres. The cross section has been designed as a steel caisson of polygonal shape, with a compression slab of reinforced concrete having at least 12.5 cm thick, and a safety handrail 1.35 metres high.

    AudingIntraesa has attended the TRA 2014 conference held in Paris in April 2014, with the presentation of an article and the poster exhibition titled "European lessons for California new HSR project: a comparative study using the Spanish network", given by Juan Luis de la Campa, co-author and civil engineer at our company, specialised in linear and transport infrastructures.

    TRA (Transport Research Arena) is the major conference on transport in Europe; it takes place every two years, and aims to explore the most advanced research works into inland and maritime transport. As a wide forum it is open to all interested parties, and brings together much of European researchers in the transport sector.

  • AudingIntraesa will take part in the programme to improve the existing water supply systems at Mérida and its service area.

    AudingIntraesa has won the bidding for the technical and environmental assistance and the operational supervision and control relating to the construction projects: “Connection to the county of Cornalvo”, “Connection to the town of Arroyo de San Serván”, and “Connection to the town of Valverde de Mérida”.

    1 April, AudingIntraesa has won the bidding for the technical and environmental assistance, as well as, the operational supervision and control, relating to the three following construction projects: "Connection to the county of Cornalvo", "Connection to the town of Arroyo de San Serván", and "Connection to the town of Valverde de Mérida".

    The works awarded come as part of the proposal for the improvement of the existing water supply systems in the surrounding area of the dam of Alange (third stage), and in the town of Mérida and its service area. The mentioned works represent a total investment of EUR 37.2 million, with a rate of 75% co-financed from Ministry of Environment, Rural and Marine Affairs; through the Spanish State Company AcuaEs, and supported by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The recipient municipalities assume responsibility for the remaining cost, 25%. In addition to, the connections and the water tank of Las Norias, a plan to provide an external ring for water supply in the area around Mérida is currently in place. It will also be carried out the extension of the existing drinking water treatment plant at Mérida, to reach a capacity of processing up to 600 litre/second.

    The works awarded within the programme include the following ones:

    Connection to the county of Cornalvo: the perimeter ring of the town of Mérida will be connected with the water tank of Cornalvo, by means of the construction of a pumping station and 8,391 metres of HDPE water-pipes, size ND 250.

    Connection to the town of Arroyo de San Serván: the west section of road N-V, within the perimeter ring of the town of Mérida, will be connected with the water tank of San Serván, by means of the construction of 6,441 metres of HDPE water-pipes, size ND 250.

    Connection to the town of Valverde de Mérida: the east section of road N-V, within the perimeter ring of the town of Mérida, will be connected with the water tank of the town, by means of the construction of 8,400 metres of HDPE water-pipes, size ND 250; as well as a new pumping station with a maximum capacity of 72 m3/h.

    The present award of works extends the long list of hydraulic construction projects in which AudingIntraesa has taken part, and represents a continuity of collaboration with public authorities.

    Last Monday, 12 may, in the auditorium of ESADE (an international academic institution with over fifty years of history) has taken place the technical seminar on "Different times, new infrastructures”. Our general manager, Marilo Casas, was one of the participants, as speaker of the debate on "Internationalization: successful experiences".

    The conference was organised by the Body of Aggregates of Catalonia, the Catalan Association of Construction Companies of Public Works (CONSTCAT, according to its initials in Spanish) and the Catalan Independent Association of Engineering and Consulting Companies (ASINCA, according to its initials in Spanish) to open a debate upon the changes that all companies in the sector have been forced to adopt to cope with the current economic downturn. Related topics, such as the identification of new funding models, the need of different awarding mechanisms, as well as the future of public building projects in Catalonia, have also been widely discussed.

  • AudingIntraesa continues remodeling work on Sarria Station

    AudingIntraesa signed a contract with INFRAESTRUCTURES.CAT to develop a new Construction Project to adapt Sarria Station to current standards, improving its accessibility and remodeling tracks, platforms and concourse.

    On 21 March 2014, AudingIntraesa signed a contract with INFRAESTRUCTURES.CAT to develop a new Construction Project to adapt Sarria Station to current standards, improving its accessibility and remodeling tracks, platforms and concourse.

    This project, estimated to last 6 months, follows the work carried out by AudingIntraesa on this particular station since remodeling studies began in 2005.

    The new contract shall transform the station, currently with 4 tracks and 3 platforms, reducing the number of tracks to 3 and platforms to 2. Accessibility requirements for people with reduced mobility shall be met by installing elevators providing seamless connection between platforms, corridors and concourse. Necessary adjustments shall be made to those affected by the works.

    This highly complex project joins AudingIntraesa’s long experience in designing underground railway stations.

  • AudingIntraesa designs HSR arrival in San Sebastian

    AudingIntraesa signed a contract with ADIF to develop a Basic and Construction Project to adjust Guipúzcoa Station’s lines and platforms to HSR.

    On April 1st AudingIntraesa signed a contract with ADIF to develop a Basic and Construction Project to adjust Guipúzcoa Station’s lines and platforms to HSR.

    The arrival of the HSR (known as “Y vasca”) brings about a profound readjustment of the existing platform area, which shall receive both conventional and high-speed trains.

    This contract is the latest in a long list of railway projects developed by AudingIntraesa.

    On October 27th, 2011, AudingIntraesa signed the constitution of a new engineering group in Abu Dhabi, formed by the partners Al Husam Group, AudingIntraesa Group and the entrepreneur Toni Salame.

This marks the beginning of a new chapter in this ambitious project that began last year. LEF-AudingIntraesa, S.A. is responsible for the project, supply and installation of the equipments.

    This past September AudingIntraesa and LEF Ingenieros formalized their partnership, working together on a wastewater treatment plant project that is part of a large solar thermal power plant complex in the Mojave Desert, built by Abener (Abengoa). The alliance with LEF was formalized through the establishment of LEF AudingIntraesa, S.A. and a joint venture in the USA.

    Currently, LEF and AudingIntraesa are looking forward to new international projects in the water treatment area, in what will surely become a lasting and fruitful joint venture.
